Over 260,000 visitors from 188 countries converged in Düsseldorf Germany to see and learn about new products and developments in the printing industry. For JUST customers and visitors, visual colour control and assessments to ISO 12647-2:2013 with LED lighting were paramount.
With four years of development since the last DRUPA, when visitors asked "What's the latest on JUST?" the answer was often "How much time do you have today? " Our full line of LED products were presented in a special LED Lab area that was often pushed to visitor capacity limits.
Foremost, JUST introduced the world's first LED based colour matching station (Pat. No. US 8,592,748 B2) with a CIE 50 simulation so accurate it exceeds the ISO 3664: 2009 standard. Visitors to the booth used GL Optic spectrometers to measure, report and confirm the new LED lights comply with these strict standards, including difficult areas such as UV content and metameric indices.
LED solutions presented also extend beyond colour proofing. We introduced JUST LED lamps for general lighting that replace traditional fluorescent lamps in printing and production areas. These D50 LED lamps help normalize ambient lighting, reducing the impact of external and mixed lights. Further, they have a significantly longer life than both fluorescent and conventional LED retrofits lights. Prospective customers assessed their energy savings and return-on-investment scenarios using a interactive energy saving calculator for the new JUST LED lamps.
Additionally, a special viewing booth demonstrated the differences between the old and new ISO 12647-2:2013 standards. It dramatically illustrated the important relationship between UV content optical brightening agents (OBAs) found in many substrates.
Drupa 2016 was 11 days of discussions with current and future business partners that was fruitful for all. Many thanks to visitors new and old for helping make this year’s success.
